Woodworking Tool Setup Bar Set

ups – Part 1

This is the first in a series of blog posts about bar setups for woodworking tools. The first tool we’ll be looking at is the tablesaw.

There are a lot of different ways to set up your tablesaw, and what works for one person might not work for another. In this post, I’ll show you the setup that works for me.

I like to have my tablesaw as close to the edge of the table as possible, with the blade as close to the fence as possible. This gives me the most flexibility when cutting.

To achieve this setup, I use a zero-clearance insert and a thin kerf blade. The zero-clearance insert is a piece of metal that goes in the throat of the saw and replaces the standard insert. It has a cut-out in the middle that allows the blade to come closer to the fence.

The thin kerf blade is a blade with a reduced blade thickness. This allows the blade to cut more easily through the wood, which reduces the amount of friction and heat build-up.

Here’s a diagram of my tablesaw setup:

If you’re not using a zero-clearance insert, you can still get close to the fence by raising the blade as high as possible.

I hope this post has given you some ideas for setting up your tablesaw. Stay tuned for future posts about bar setups for other woodworking tools.
