How Many Woodworking Deaths Per Year

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), there are around 7,000 woodworking deaths per year in the United States. This may seem like a high number, but when you consider the number of people who engage in woodworking activities, it’s actually a relatively small percentage.
Many of the fatalities that occur in woodworking are a result of people being struck by objects, such as saw blades or hammers. Others occur when people are crushed by heavy objects, such as lumber or machinery.
There are a number of things that you can do to help reduce your risk of being injured while woodworking. First, always wear safety glasses and a hard hat when you are working with tools. Make sure that your work area is well-lit and free of clutter. Never try to do too many things at once, and take the time to properly adjust your tools before you begin working.
If you are unsure how to use a tool, be sure to ask someone for help. Never force a tool to do something that it is not designed to do. Finally, always remember to unplug tools when you are not using them.
By following these simple safety tips, you can help to reduce your risk of being injured while woodworking.
How To Make A Box Woodworking
is a great hobby. It’s a great way to relieve stress, to be creative, and to spend time with your family. But, like anything else, it can be improved with practice. The more you woodwork, the better you get.
One of the great things about woodworking is that you can make just about anything you can dream up. A simple Google search for “woodworking plans” will yield millions of results. One of the most popular items to make is a box. Boxes are simple, but can be elegant. They can be used to store just about anything, from jewelry to screws and nails.
There are many ways to make a box. This article will show you one of the simplest ways: by using a rabbet joint.
To make a rabbet joint, you will need a straight edge, a saw, a chisel, and a hammer.
1. Start by measuring and cutting the boards that will make up your box. For this example, we will use a board that is 6” wide and 12” long.
2. Next, measure and mark 1” from each end of the board.
3. Use a saw to cut a rabbet (a groove) on the edge of the board, between the 1” marks. The rabbet should be wide enough to fit the thickness of the other board that will make up the box. For this example, the rabbet should be 1/2” wide.
4. Use a chisel to square the ends of the rabbet.
5. Use a hammer to tap the chisel into the rabbet. This will create a clean, square end.
6. Repeat steps 2-5 for the other board that will make up the box.
7. Join the boards together using a wood glue and clamps.
8. Let the glue dry.
9. Sand the box until it is smooth.
10. Finish the box with a coat of paint, a sealant, or a wood stain.
There you have it! Your very own box, made with a rabbet joint.
