Cut the boards
The first step is to cut the boards to the correct dimensions.
Cut the following boards:
• 2 – 2” x 6” boards, 54” long
• 2 – 2” x 4” boards, 36” long
• 2 – 1” x 3” boards, 36” long
• 2 – 1” x 2” boards, 36” long
• 1 – 1” x 4” board, 36” long
• 1 – 2” x 10” board, 54” long
• 1 – box of 2 ½” screws
• 1 – box of 1” screws
• 1 – tube of wood glue
• 1 – can of wood sealer (optional)
Assemble the frame
The frame of the bench is made from 2” x 4” boards.
Start by drilling pocket holes in the ends of the following boards:
• 2 – 2” x 4” boards, 36” long
• 2 – 1” x 3” boards, 36” long
• 2 – 1” x 2” boards, 36” long
Then, using 2 ½” screws, attach the boards together as shown in the diagram. Make sure the pocket holes are facing inward so they are not visible when the bench is finished.
Attach the legs
The legs of the bench are made from 2” x 6” boards.
Cut the following boards:
• 2 – 2” x 6” boards, 17” long
• 2 – 2” x 6” boards, 17” long
Attach the legs to the frame as shown in the diagram. Use 2 ½” screws and wood glue.
Make the seat
The seat of the bench is made from 1” x 4” boards.
Cut the following boards:
• 2 – 1” x 4” boards, 54” long
• 1 – 1” x 4” board, 17” long
Glue and screw the boards together as shown in the diagram.
Finish the bench
If you want, you can finish the bench with a coat of wood sealer.
