The marking gauge is used to mark lines on a piece of wood. It consists of a wooden rod with a metal point on one end and a metal disk on the other end. The rod is attached to a wooden handle, and the disk is used to adjust the distance between the point and the handle.
To make a marking gauge, you will need the following materials:
-A piece of wood, about 12″ long and 1″ wide
-A wooden rod, about 12″ long and 1/2″ diameter
-A metal point, about 1″ long
-A metal disk, about 1″ in diameter
-A wooden handle, about 6″ long
-A drill
-A saw
-A screwdriver
-A hammer
-A screw
-A nail
-A ruler or a tape measure
1. Drill a hole in the middle of the wooden rod. The hole should be about 1/2″ in diameter.
2. Cut the metal point with a saw. The point should be about 1″ long.
3. Drill a hole in the middle of the metal disk. The hole should be about 1/2″ in diameter.
4. Cut the wooden handle with a saw. The handle should be about 6″ long.
5. Screw the metal point to the end of the wooden rod. The point should be sticking out about 1/2″.
6. Screw the metal disk to the end of the wooden handle. The disk should be about 1″ from the end of the handle.
7. Hammer a screw into the end of the wooden handle. The screw should be about 1″ from the end of the handle.
8. Nail the other end of the wooden handle to the piece of wood.
9. To use the marking gauge, adjust the distance between the point and the handle by turning the disk. Then, mark a line on the piece of wood by pressing the point into the wood.
