Used Woodworking Hand Tools
to Repair a Chair
If you’re like me, you have a few old hand tools lying around your shop that you don’t use very often. But, when the need arises, they can be just the ticket.
I was recently called on to repair an old wooden chair. The screws that held the backrest to the seat had come loose, and the chair was leaning to one side. I could have used a power drill to fix the problem, but I decided to give my old hand tools a try.
The first tool I reached for was my chisel. I used the chisel to pry the backrest away from the seat. It took a little bit of force, but the chisel did the job.
Next, I used my screwdriver to remove the screws that were holding the backrest to the seat. Once the screws were out, I was able to straighten the chair back up.
The whole repair took me less than five minutes, and I didn’t even have to use any power tools. If you’re not comfortable using power tools, or if you don’t have any power tools available, try using some old hand tools. You might be surprised at how well they work.
Hi everyone! I’m a woodworker and blogger, and this is my woodworking blog. In my blog, I share tips and tricks for woodworkers of all skill levels, as well as project ideas that you can try yourself.
