This is especially true if your pieces of wood are cut to length by hand. As you finish your project, move them to the right direction, and avoid sharp edges.

Never work with compressed air or other types of spray while working on wood projects. These fumes can cause serious illness or even death in some cases. Always work with a brush and a cloth, using a mask when necessary. Do not spray chemicals or other substances near a working woodwork piece.

Wear protective clothing when handling woodworking projects. You should wear a full-length, padded industrial strength dust mask whenever possible. Your face mask should be able to filter out particles and fumes, making it much easier to breathe.

Never use a sharp blade when cutting wood. Using a dull knife will expose your skin to excessive blood loss, which can lead to infection. Instead, use a file, chisel, or sandpaper. Always check to see if your blade is dull before beginning a woodworking project.
