For those of you who are not familiar with the work of Chuck Bender, he is a popular woodworking author and demonstrator. He has written a number of books on the subject, and his weekly video show, “Woodworking with Chuck Bender”, is one of the most popular woodworking programs on the internet.
A few weeks ago, Chuck released a new product called the “Shafted Chuck Bender”. This is a tool that attaches to a drill, and allows you to quickly and easily bend wood. The video demonstration of the tool was impressive, and it quickly became a best seller on the Woodworking with Chuck Bender website.
I was one of the first people to purchase the Shafted Chuck Bender, and I have to say that I was disappointed. The tool does not work as well as the video demonstration made it look. The drill tends to “walk” around, and it is very difficult to get a good bend in the wood.
I contacted Chuck Bender about this, and he told me that the tool was designed for people who are just starting out in woodworking. He said that it was not meant to be a tool for professional woodworkers.
