Woodworking Shooting Board

A shooting board is a Woodworking tool used to ensure accurate cuts when edge jointing boards. It is a straight piece of wood with a V-shaped notch in one end. The notch is placed against the edge of the board to be cut, and the board is then run against the saw to make the cut. The shooting board ensures that the cut is straight and accurate.

There are many different types of shooting boards, but all serve the same purpose. The most common type is the standard shooting board, which is used to make straight cuts. The miter shooting board is used to make miters cuts, and the bevel shooting board is used to make bevel cuts.

The shooting board is a very simple tool, but it is very effective in ensuring accurate cuts. It is a must-have tool for any woodworker who wants to make accurate joints.

Burkhart’S Woodworking

Blog

Hey everyone,

I’m starting a woodworking blog to document my progress in the shop and to share tips, techniques and general information with anyone who might find it useful. I’ll be posting new projects, photos and videos as I work on them, so be sure to check back often!

I’m a self-taught woodworker and I’ve been woodworking for about 10 years now. I started out making simple things like birdhouses and picture frames, and gradually moved on to more challenging projects. I’ve always been interested in traditional woodworking techniques and I love the challenge of making something from scratch.

My shop is a small, one-car garage that’s been converted in to a workshop. I’ve managed to fit in a small table saw, a miter saw, a drill press and a few other tools. I’m always looking for ways to make the most of the limited space I have, so I’m always experimenting with new techniques and ideas.

I hope you’ll find my blog useful and I look forward to hearing from you in the comments.

Japanese Woodworking Knife

There is a lot of terminology that is used when discussing Japanese woodworking knives. The most important thing to understand when choosing a knife is the difference between a single bevel and a double bevel knife.

Where Can One Learn Woodworking

A single bevel knife has one sharp edge and is used for tasks such as creating extremely thin slices or removing small amounts of material. These knives are often called yanagiba, and are the traditional knife for slicing sushi.

A double bevel knife has two sharp edges and is used for general purpose woodworking. These knives are often called gyuto, and are the most common type of knife for general woodworking tasks.

There are a variety of other factors that you will need to consider when choosing a Japanese woodworking knife. The most important of these is the type of steel that the knife is made from.

There are two main types of steel that are used in Japanese knives, carbon steel and stainless steel. Carbon steel is a harder steel and will hold an edge longer, but it is also more prone to rusting. Stainless steel is a softer steel, but it is less prone to rusting.

Another factor to consider is the blade shape. The most common blade shapes are the standard gyuto shape and the tanto shape. The gyuto shape is a curved blade that is similar to a Western-style chef’s knife. The tanto shape is a more pointed blade that is similar to a dagger.

The last factor to consider is the handle. The most common handle materials are wood and plastic. Wood handles are more traditional and provide a better grip, while plastic handles are more durable and easier to clean.
